The Writing's on the Wall This artwork by Jackie Pearce of ShedArt interacts with viewers on a level that is more than just admiring. The idea was conceived by Jackie for Surrey Artists Open Studios last June and finished during ShedArt's 'Off the Wall' Exhibition for Arts Alive last October. Initially Jackie had sketched walls of the Abbey at Mont St Michel, France in charcoal on a large canvas. Viewers were then invited to write on the walls, a form of legal graffiti, expressing any sentiments, topical or poetic, humorous, simple or serious in permanent marker.Jackie said "The piece was always intended to be fun and developed in a party spirit." After over 600 visitors during Open Studios and nearly 300 during the Arts Alive weekend a lot of participants embraced just that concept. The now finished artwork named The Writing's on the Wall will be exhibited in Jackie's studio for Surrey Artists Open Studios 2009. All profit from the sale will be donated to the Macmillan Nurses.
